We started the day with mass (staff only) and then a trip to the markets. The students had a challenge of purchasing 10 items with $5. They had some students helping them and had a fun time, taking it the sights, sounds and smell of a Timor market. After the markets we did some washing which was interesting. We are all the more grateful now for our washing machines at home.
After lunch we went for a drive to a church on top of a mountain, (how Father Domingos explained it). He was exactly right! He was celebrating a baptism, communion and mass. The little church was packed Wednesday so we sat outside with the mothers and babies who kept us entertained. Mrs Fisher made another baby cry, that makes it two far this trip.
The teachers were presented with a tais and then it was time for food! So much food, everyone is going to come home with a few extra kilos. The road home was long and bumpy and driving at night was a bit of an experience. From day 1, the group have been hit with a bug! It has been working our way through most of us and on the way home 3 were struck down with it. We now have a last man standing prize of $10, in the running is Owen, Jenna, Amy, Mrs McCourt and Mrs Fisher. Fingers crossed there is no winner!
