An extremely early wake up call tested students as they crawled out of bed at 5:30am and attempted to eat breakfast with their eyes closed to hit the road at 6:30am. Morning tea at Glenrowan was an enjoyable stop as the sun was starting to warm up and fresh fruit supplied by She’s Apples filled our bellies. The students were engaged with facts about the famous Ned Kelly. Subway lunch was fantastic with the view of the Dog on the Tuckerbox. The students were able to learn more history from the area along their travels about the pioneer monument. When we arrived to Canberra, we parked at Lake Burley Griffin for a quick snack then split into two groups. One group went to the National Portrait Gallery and the other to the National Gallery of Australia. It was great to see the students explore through the galleries with each other, learn about the artworks, as well as engage with the tour guides. We enjoyed a lovely first meal at Canberra Park before we excited ourselves for Zone 3 Laser Tag. Students, as well as brave teachers and parents, suited up and entered through the doorway to the danger zone. There was screaming, from we’re not exactly sure who, as well as lots of laughter and joy! It was definitely a successful first day and night in the city of Canberra. Sweet dreams, and we will update you all again tomorrow!
