09.09.2024
*Update 31 October 2024*
SACE/CESA are advising students DO NOT update their laptops to the latest version of Windows 11 OS (24H2 release October 1st) and Mac OS (V15 Sequoia released September 16th) as these versions have not been tested for compatibility with the SACE exam browser.
Windows laptops - more information about the issue (here)
MacOS - no information, but the new version 15 has not been tested by the SACE board for use with 2024 exams.
To check the what version your laptop is running:
Search 'about your pc' or 'about this mac' in the Windows or Mac search bar.
If your laptop is already updated to either of the below, be prepared to use a school provided laptop for your e-exams.
Windows 11 24H2 or
Mac OS v15 Sequoia
If your laptop has not been updated to the above versions and still meets the minimum requirements listed below, DO NOT manually update until after you have completed all of your e-exams.
if you are unable to confirm what version you are running please contact ITsupport via the 'Contact IT support' tab at the top of this page, or speak to IT staff who will be available in the PRC at the beginning of each exam.
Some SACE exams need to be completed online and senior students planning to use their BYOD laptop for one of these exams MUST install the SACE Exam Browser prior to the commencement of their exam. There will also be the option of school laptops available for the exams.
NOTE FOR MACBOOK USERS: When launching the SACE Browser for the first time, the app may freeze when clicking any button. When this happens, there is no way to quit the application besides from restarting/ shutting down the device. For a solution to this problem, see the article. (link to article)
