In week 5, our school community marked Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent and the beginning of a 40-day journey toward Easter. Students participated in a liturgy with their year level, entering into the Season of Lent. During the liturgy, we reflected on the three pillars of Lent: prayer, fasting, and giving. Ashes have been a symbol of repentance since the Old Testament. Receiving ashes is a reminder to reflect on areas of our lives where we might need to turn away from things that hold us back, and instead focus on renewal and growth, while also extending an invitation to form a deeper relationship with God.
