Our Year 9 & 10 Agriculture Classes have recently had a visit from Tension Woods College Alumni Josh Praolini who works in the Green Triangle Forestry Hub. Josh spoke to both classes about all things Forestry & careers in Forestry. The Year 10 Class were also fortunate to have an excursion to the local Pinus Radiata breeding facility to learn from Dr Tony McCrae from Tree Breeding Australia. He described the process they conduct to breed the best quality pines with over 80 'families' within the Pinus Radiata breed. This facility is run locally by Dave McKirsty with help from Caitlin & Toneya Carraill who conducts the pollination to ensure accurate breeding & recording of genetics.
