March in May

27.05.24

On Wednesday 15 May the Year 6 cohort participated in the March in May Canunda National Park Excursion. The day included an 8.5km loop walk around the park to promote care for creation, connecting with nature and local history. Students stopped at several stations along the way to engage with local experts on a variety of topics; including Indigenous Landcare, Southeast Shorebirds, Weeds and Pests Control and visiting the ruins of the Coola Outstation. It was a wonderful experience for students and the learnings from this experience will now be put forth in our Care for Creation unit which links to Laudato Si.

This excursion leads well into Laudato Si' Week which is celebrated from May 19-26. Laudato Si’ Week is an annual celebration inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical letter, “Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home.” During this week, people around the world come together to contemplate and care for our planet, rooted in faith and love.

Tenison Woods College respectfully acknowledges the Boandik people are the First Nations people of the Mount Gambier South Eastern region of South Australia and pay respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, past, present and emerging.
