Ash Wednesday

19.02.24

On Wednesday, we marked the beginning of Lent, with Year level Ash Wednesday liturgies for all students. All staff and students were marked with the sign of the cross as an outward sign of the inward changes we try to make as we journey towards Easter.

Ash Wednesday is a time when we stop and assess how we’re doing in our walk with God. Lent helps us identify spiritual areas in which we can grow and sinful areas that we need to avoid. To repent, put simply, means to turn away from sin and turn toward God.

We acknowledge that we all have things we can do during Lent to grow closer to God through the Lenten themes of prayer, giving to others and going without things we may not need.

Tenison Woods College respectfully acknowledges the Boandik people are the First Nations people of the Mount Gambier South Eastern region of South Australia and pay respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, past, present and emerging.
