The tension had been building for many weeks prior to this epic clash between Grant High School and Tenison Woods College at Marist Park. The sun was out, the pitch was flat(ish) and the Tenison boys were amped.

Captain, Scott McBain unfortunately lost the toss and Grant High School elected to bat first. Some tight opening bowling from Josh Manninen and Bryce Catlin kept the runs down for the first 5 overs before Grant opening batsman pushed some quick runs. Ethan Brook struck the first breakthrough, sending middle stump flying. Shoeb Khan took 2 wickets in a row and narrowly missed a hattrick with a brilliant spell. Will Harris was turning it a mile with his leg-spin and eventually took the big wicket of Grant most dangerous batsman, a great catch by Scott McBain behind the stumps. Tight bowling from Tenison limited Grant to only 95. Valuable spells came from Josh Manninen, Shoeb Khan and Jock McClure, with Charlie Bromley and Kobe Bromley taking valuable wickets along the way.

Tenison’s opening batting pair started strongly in the the first overs before the first wickets fell in quick succession. In a cloud of confidence and channelling his idol, Glenn Maxwell, Ethan Brook strolled out to the crease. As the likes of Jock McClure, Jack Pilkington and Sid Riley steadied the ship, Ethan Brook attacked, hitting 11 fours in his knock of 51, eventually carrying the team over the line. An excellent effort by the team!
