Junior School Music Playout

07.06.23

The Barrie Holmes Stadium came alive last Wednesday afternoon as junior music students featured in the annual Semester One ‘Junior Music Playout’.

Students from Year 3,4,5 and 6 (as well as some invited Year 7’s) presented an entertaining line-up of musical acts.

Storm Drum Corps opened the show with a thunderous presentation of their skills in a percussion ensemble.

Year 3 and Year 4 students impressed the audience with performances on their class recorders whilst some also featured performing in Ignite Choir.

All Year 5 students performed on their band instruments and some teamed up with Year 6 students to perform in Blaze Choir.

Year 6 Band presented two items and the audience was literally rocking to “We Will Rock You” by Queen.

Congratulations to our soloists, Yunji Cao (Year 1) and Scarlett Strachan (Year 6) for their individual performances on piano.

A big thank you is extended to our wonderful music educators; Tameka Nube, Sarah Raymond, Jack Heaven, Rebecca Hudson, Beth Creedy, Nathan Creedy, Jodi Swiggs, Gary Mansell and Ethan Hopgood (music trainee).

Tenison Woods College can produce such a highly professional music performance from so many students in the Junior School, because of the passion for music that they all convey day in / day out. Thank you to the Junior School staff that assisted on the day to ensure the smooth running of the show.

A parent who attended, commented about the noticeable progression in learning, ability and skills that were on display throughout the show.

Congratulations to every student who performed!

Penny Mansell | Head of Performing Arts
