Reconciliation Week

07.06.23

Last week was National Reconciliation Week. The theme for 2023 is 'Be a Voice for Generations', which encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work and socialise.

Reconciliation Australia focuses on the shaping of Australia’s journey towards a more just, equitable and reconciled nation. In 2001, 300,000 people came together to walk on bridges and roads across the nation and show their support for a more reconciled Australia.

Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians – as individuals, families, communities, organisations and as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Students and staff participated in a number of activities throughout the week, as we reflected on the history of the Stolen Generations and recognised the resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Students and staff loved participating in National Reconciliation Week, as we all strive towards a more just, equitable and reconciled nation.

Tenison Woods College respectfully acknowledges the Boandik people are the First Nations people of the Mount Gambier South Eastern region of South Australia and pay respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, past, present and emerging.
