On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 March Hamish and Annabelle Gordon competed in the Little Athletics State Championships. Qualification for the running events is the top 16 competitors in the State, and field events is the top 12.

Hamish qualified for discus, shot put, javelin, 100m and 200m (max 5 events). Annabelle qualified for long jump, triple jump and hurdles.

During the competition they both achieved several personal bests and some fantastic results in some trying weather conditions on day 2 of competition:

Hamish
• Discus – 1st
• Shot put – 1st
• Javelin – 1st
• 100m – 3rd
• 200m – 2nd

Annabelle
• Long jump – 5th
• Triple jump – 7th
• Hurdles – 14th

Hamish will now compete in the Little Athletics National Championships in Melbourne in April, with selection based on results throughout the season and the State competition. He’ll compete in all 5 of his State events; discus, shot put, javelin, 100m and 200m.
