Paschal Candle Artwork Shines Brightly During the Easter Season

12.04.23

Year 5 student, Max Yeates, is the winner of this year's Paschal Candle design competition, run by our Catholic Identity and Mission (CIM) team.

Designing an artwork to appear on the sacred Paschal candles is just one activity students take part in during the Lenten period, reiterating the meaning of Easter and why it is such a significant time for Catholics. Year 5 students were invited to create a watercolour artwork representing the Eucharistic community to which they are a part of it.

For Catholics, the Paschal candle is a powerful symbol of a pillar of fire and a reminder that 'Christ is our Light'.
