Open Boys Football Team Through to Finals!

27.07.22

Monday 25 July the Open Boys football team travelled to Adelaide to compete in Round 2 of the Open Boys Knockout Football Statewide Schools Competition on Tuesday 26 July.

In what became a topsy-turvy day, Blackwood High School beat Faith Lutheran College in the third game to send us through to the final, based on percentage; what a roller coaster of emotions! Below are the results from the games we played.

Game 1 – Blackwood High School
The first game was against Blackwood High School and to our credit we were able to steady early in the match and gain ascendancy. After holding a 13-point halftime lead, the midfield were able to take control of the game and we eventually ran out winners by 41 points. Better players in the game were Austin Fuller, Noah Sims, Ethan Sims and Harry Fisher.

Game 2 – Faith Lutheran College
We then had to back up with the second game of the day and come up against Faith Lutheran College. In what was a tight battle all game, we headed into the final break leading by 14 points. Unfortunately, Faith Lutheran College were able to run out the game stronger and we went down by a solitary point after a shot after the siren didn’t quite go through the big sticks. Better players were Jackson Bowden, Kalan Shanks, Austin Fuller, Thomas Bignell and Nick Joy.
