Year 7-9 Knockout Hockey

08.06.22

On Friday 27 May, Tenison Woods College participated in the Year 7-9 Mixed Knockout Hockey Competition in Mount Gambier. The team played games against Grant High School and Naracoorte High School. Having not played together before, captain James Miller supported the team in making some excellent plays during the competition.

Tahliah Carter, Sarrah Ryan, Henry, and goalie Noah Clark worked hard to make some important saves in defence during our first game against Grant High School. The game was very close, with both teams having chances at scoring goals. Max Grubb, Clare Baseley and Rheyn Paterson moved into great attacking positions ready to score goals in their very first hockey game! Grant High School proved too strong in their attack winning the game 3-0.

Game 2 against Naracoorte High School saw our midfield players Lacey Bullock, Archie Aitken, Heidi Collins, and Toby Drew work well together to provide several opportunities to move the ball up the field and into the attacking goal area. New players Colby Ind and Alita Huyser were vital in supporting Jeremy McKenzie in scoring a field goal. James Miller extended the teams lead with a wonderful direct hit goal off a short corner. Naracoorte came out strong in the fourth quarter to score their first goal, but our defence proved too strong resulting in a 2-1 win. The team had a fantastic day at the hockey filled with fun, outstanding skills, and wonderful teamwork as we went on to finish second overall.

Congratulations to our players who represented the College with pride and competed with great sportsmanship and ability. A special thank you to Ms Lloyd for driving the bus, Elyse for supporting the players, and to the staff who organised the day.
