On Wednesday 23 February Year 7/8 Hockey Academy students sat down to a video call with former Naracoorte hockey player Hattie Shand who is gearing up to make her Hockeyroos debut this year. Hattie, aged 22 first picked up a hockey stick at the age of 9 playing for Dartmoor Hockey Club. She has represented the region and the state in various competitions, including playing for South Australia from under 12’s through to representing Australia in the Jillaroos. Hockey academy students prepared a range of questions for Hattie from why she started playing hockey, what skills she has developed throughout her career and how nutrition is vital for athletes physical and mental health.

The Hockey Academy would like to thank Hattie for speaking with us and wish her all the best for her Hockeyroo debut.
