2022 SA Country Swimming Championships

Eight students who swim for Blue Lake Y Swim Club recently competed at the 2022 SA Country Championships in Renmark.

The team collected a total of 29 medals, including 3 overall medals. There were many impressive personal best times swum, and multiple swims in finals over the course of the meet.

MEDALS
Thomas Bignell:
Gold – 50 breast overall.
Silver – 100 breast overall; 16-17yo 50 breast, 50 back, 100 breast, 100 back, 17&O 200 IM, 16&O 400 IM, Open 200 breast
Bronze – 17&O 200 free, 16&O 400 free
Hayley Pearson:
Gold – 18&O 50 Fly
Silver – 18&O 100 Fly, 50 free
Bronze – 50 fly overall; 18&O 200 IM
Aleisha Pearson:
Bronze – 14-15yo 100 back, 15yo 50 back
Keira Flowers:
Bronze – 15yo 50 breast

REGIONAL RELAYS
Female 18&U 200 free relay gold and 200 Medley relay - silver: Hayley, Aleisha, Keira
Male 18&U 200 Free and Medley relays – bronze: Thomas, Nicholas
Mikayla Pearson and Darcy Hodges (competing at her first Countries) had multiple swims in finals. Maggie Hodges competed in Superfish, her first meet ever and was the third fastest girl in 50 back, breast and free in the 8&U age group.

BIGGEST PERSONAL BESTS
Thomas 1500m free 45.81 sec, Darcy 100 free 14.92 sec, Mikayla 100 fly 10.65 sec, Keira 200 IM 10.57 sec.
