2022 Female School Captain Tess Kenseley

31.01.22

I have been fortunate enough to have spent the last 12 years at Tenison Woods College and I feel incredibly honoured to complete my final year of formal schooling as School Captain. Despite the uncertainty this year brings, I cannot wait to lead the college community alongside Riley, with positivity, enthusiasm and pride, leaving our mark on the school community.

I am surrounded by extremely supportive and loving people which extends far beyond my immediate family. Growing up alongside so many positive role models has helped me foster qualities of empathy, compassion and dedication which I will carry into this role of school captain. I see the School Captain role as my opportunity to lead alongside all my college peers, to bring out the best ideas and values in one another and to listen and learn from our entire school community.

Through various involvements inside and outside of the school community I have been lucky enough to have met many students and families and am incredibly excited to further this in 2022. One of my biggest goals for the year is to be present and involved in as many events, and to connect with as many students as possible. Aswell as doing this myself, I would like to inspire all students to ‘be the one’ to do this also.

Having looked up to the year 12’s in the past as a junior student, I appreciate the influence the senior cohort has on the rest of the school, and hope to inspire connections and involvement between our grade and the younger students in the school community.

The best leadership comes from teamwork, and Riley and I are fortunate enough to be supported by very capable student leaders in all areas of the school, in particular the senior leadership group. We can’t wait to see all our ideas come to fruition and see all that the school community can achieve together in the coming year.
