Year 10 Basketball State Final

17.11.21

Our Year 10 boys and girls basketball teams recently travelled to Adelaide to compete in the Division A State Final.

The Year 10 girls had a rough start against Modbury High School, who proved too strong under the basket. The second game was against Concordia College, where the girls played more aggressively, and as a result, won the game. The final minor round game was against Blackwood High School. The girls managed a win and a trip to the semifinals, where they came up against Cabra Dominican College. After a slow start, the girls beat Cabra and secured a spot in the grand final against rivals Modbury High School. It was a close game, until some well-timed free throws meant we came away with the win by one point and were named State Champions! Congratulations girls, such an amazing effort! The boys started the day off against Modbury High School, where they claimed a win. After a quick break they moved on to Concordia College, who proved too tough to beat.

The boys quickly bounced back to beat Glenunga High School convincingly. In the semi-final, we faced Henley High School. The boys played hard, and as a result won their way into the grand final against Trinity College. Despite playing as a team, they fell short by 6 points. The Year 10 boys finished second overall in the State; a tremendous effort!

A special thank you and congratulations to Richard Hill and Tom Daly for coaching, as well as Heidi Clark and Elisa Lawrie for driving the buses and assisting with scoring and managing!
