Open Girls and Boys Basketball

15.09.21

On Monday 30 August, the Open girls and Open boys basketball teams travelled to Mount Barker to compete in the Division A Basketball State Finals. The girls started off the day against Seymour College, where they unfortunately fell short 15-27. After a quick break the girls were back on the court against St Francis de Sales College. After a nail-biting finish, the final score read 27-30 St Francis’ way. The last minor round game was against Adelaide High School, where Tenison pushed through to a 29-22 victory. The Open girls played their consolation final against Pembroke School. Tenison won the game 40-37, and finished the day with two wins and two losses.

The Open boys started their campaign against Modbury High School. After a slow start, the boys found themselves playing the catch-up game, and lost their first match of the carnival. The next game was against Blackwood High School. With a chip on their shoulder, the Tenison boys pushed through for a massive 56-8 victory. The boy’s last minor round match was against Eastern Fleurieu School. This was a must-win game, and a buzzer-beater three point shot by Zac Nulty secured the win 24-23. With two wins, the Titan’s advanced to the semi-finals against Henley High School. Despite an even spread of points between our boys, they unfortunately fell short 29-51.

Massive congratulations to those involved, and a huge thank you to Tom Daly and Richard Hill for coaching, and Justine Forrest for managing and scoring. Well done to all!
