Book Week 2021

01.09.21

Last week was Book Week! A celebration of the amazing world of literature. The theme for 2021 was ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’ and the Library staff created an incredible display of dragons, castles and more in the library to reflect this.

Throughout the week the library was full of excitement with activities being held for students of all ages during lunchtime and classes visiting the library during lesson time to read new books and old favourites. All celebrating their love for the world of books.

Throughout the week the ELCC also celebrated Book Week with a variety of experiences, such as sea creature exploration, craft anemones, cooking, making bear puppets and puppy hand print craft.

A highlight for the ELCC was a special visit from Old Scholar and author, Rebecca Watson, who read her children’s book ‘Call Me Frank’. Other children’s award winning books they enjoyed was ‘Anemone is Not the Enemy’, ‘This Small Blue Dot’, ‘There’s No Such Thing’ and ‘We Love You, Magoo’ along with a very special visit from ‘Mr Magoo’ the mischievous puppy!

The final day of Book Week for 2021 was celebrated with the annual Book Week Parade on Friday! There were colourful costumes on display all around the College as students and staff showed their love for Book Week in style. The parade is an event that the whole College eagerly looks forward to every year; and is an amazing way to cap off an incredible Book Week.
