Junior Music Showcase

02.06.21

The Barrie Holmes Stadium came alive with music from the Junior School students performing in front of each other. With live performances far and few over the last year, this was the perfect opportunity for students to dust off their nerves and perform to their peers. To everyone that performed on the day; congratulations! Read on for what our amazing comperes had to say about the performance:

“Last Friday, the Junior School held a music showcase in the Barrie Holmes Stadium.
First, the Year 3 students performed 'The Entertainer' under the guidance of Mrs Hudson.
Next, the Ignite choir sang 'Ain’t No Mountain', directed by Mrs Hudson and Mrs Creedy.
Then, Mrs Dickson presented the Junior Star Music Awards.
After that, the Year 4 students played 'Hot Cross Buns' and 'Skateboarding' on the recorder, under the direction of Miss Nube.
With their leader Milla Rossouw, the Junior Saxophone Ensemble played 'Buffalo Gala' with Mrs Mansell directing.
Under the direction of Mrs Swiggs and accompanied by Mrs Creedy on piano, the Blaze choir performed 'Cover Me In Sunshine', with Sophie Walker as their soloist.
Afterwards, the Year 5 students showed us what they learned in the Year 5 band program. 5A played 'Cuckoo', 5B played 'El Camino Mariachi' and 5C played 'Steppin', all conducted by Mr Heaven.
Finally, the Storm Drum Corps performed 'Mowhawk' under the direction of Miss Nube.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this music showcase successful. Everyone who performed did a fantastic job.”
