2021 National Simultaneous Storytime

26.05.21

Last week, on Wednesday 19 May, the College celebrated the 21st annual National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) with a reading of the book ‘Give Me Some Space!’. Tenison Woods College students enjoyed the story read by NASA Astronaut, Shannon Walker, as she floated in space in the International Space Station! The book was enjoyed simultaneously in schools and many other places around the country.

At lunchtime, students participated in the ‘LEGO Masters’ challenge to make a rocket, matching the NSS theme this year. Reception students created amazing artwork of an astronaut in space to celebrate the day.

The Early Learning and Community Centre (ELCC) kindergarten children have been exploring space, creating planets and rockets, learning more about the International Space Station and playing as Astronauts in anticipation of the Simultaneous Storytime. The children have listened to stories, researched facts and images from space, sang space songs and created space art masterpieces.

Tenison Woods College respectfully acknowledges the Boandik people are the First Nations people of the Mount Gambier South Eastern region of South Australia and pay respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, past, present and emerging.
