Farewell to the Class of 2020!

28.10.20

On Thursday 22 October, our Tenison Woods College community farewelled our 2020 Year 12 cohort, as they celebrated their last day of formal lessons. It was a day full of emotion and excitement, as families, staff and students alike joined together to celebrate everything our Year 12's have achieved throughout the year and wish them well for their upcoming SACE exams.

Banners of well wishes and congratulations, created by some of the students' parents, lined White Avenue and the College driveway, welcoming students as they arrived for the traditional 8:00am breakfast. Students enjoyed a breakfast of their choice in the transformed Common Room, served by staff members. From there it was off to spend time with their Reception buddies before the cohort took centre stage in the Year 12 Farewell Assembly. In February this year, our Year 12 students escorted our new Reception students to their seats at the Whole School Beginning of Year Mass. At Thursday’s assembly, that gesture was returned by the Receptions as they escorted the Class of 2020 into their final assembly. A special thank you to all the students who performed and spoke at the assembly to make it a special occasion.

Following the assembly, students and family enjoyed individual cupcakes made as a gesture of thanks by the Sugarloaf Café to celebrate the Class of 2020. In a new tradition which is sure to become a favourite, the whole College formed a ‘Guard of Honour’ where the entire school cheered and celebrated as the Year 12’s, lead by the Drum Corps, walked through the school grounds on their way to their final Mass. The formalities of the day fittingly finished with the Year 12 Farewell Mass lead by Father Dean.

Thank you to everyone who played their part in making this day a fitting send off for our Year 12s. We wish the class of 2020 all the best with their exams!
