Students 'hack' their way to the top!

21.10.20

Congratulations to Year 9 students Hayden Luo and Alex McCarthy on finishing Runners-Up for South Australia in the Economic Recovery Challenge category at the recent GovHack competition!

GovHack is an annual, international competition for people who seek to make life better through free-to-use data. Students register to present projects based on challenges in the world using open data.

Alex and Hayden presented their project 'Second Chance', aimed at solving the elderly care, disability and homelessness crisi s during COVID-19. This is what the boys had to say about their presentation: “Our project is called Second Chance, it is aimed to help those who are homeless, the elderly, the disabled and the people effected by COVID-19. Our projects allows the homeless, elderly and the disabled to work together to create a space where they can all live in peace.”

Well done to Hayden and Alex on their terrific result! Watch their submission at the link here.
