Open Boys Football

Well done to the Knockout Football Open Boys won the State Final! On Tuesday 15 September, the team travelled to Adelaide to play in the Open Boys Football State Country Final at Thebarton Oval. The boys played against Kadina Memorial School, and came away victorious in a tight contest.

With a very strong first quarter, the team was able to take the lead early. Oli Thomson led a strong forward-line which resulted in the team being ahead by four goals at half-time.

Kadina came back but it was too little too late as the Open boys enjoyed a 13-point victory. The Chris Brown award for Best on Ground was awarded to Oscar Adams.

The final score was - Tenison Woods College 10.9 (69), Kadina Memorial School 8.9 (56).

Best players were Oscar Adams, Noah Sims, Darcy Porter, Billy Shanks, Oli Thomson and Alex Jarnevic.

Well done to the boys on an outstanding achievement!

Year 8/9 Girls

Congratulations to our Year 8/9 superstars who are Knockout Netball State Champions, after coming away with a one goal win in the Grand Final over Blackwood High School, on Tuesday 15 September.

After a slow start to the day, losing to Scotch College 22-12, the girls followed with a strong win against Golden Grove High School 29-14. They then went into a crossover final against St Mary’s College in what was a very close game, but came out winning by three goals to earn a spot in the Grand Final.

In the Grand Final, the girls began slowly; in a matter of minutes they were seven goals to one down. However, during the second quarter, the team had an outstanding performance shortening the margin to only one goal down at half-time. For the remainder of the game it was a very close affair, with the match coming down to the final seconds. The spectators were all on the edge of their seats watching the girls lead by one goal with only 15 seconds left of the clock. Blackwood High School then missed a penalty shot, which saw the girls hold onto the one goal margin to become State Champions for 2020, winning 30-29!

An amazing performance!

Open Girls

Well done to the Knockout Open Girls Netball team who finished 4th in the State at the finals in Adelaide on Tuesday 15 September. The girls started off well, drawing 29-29 to Immanuel College (who then went on to win the day). In the second match the girls played same fantastic netball against Tatachilla, winning 30-20, to finish top of their pool.

In their third match the girls unfortunately got off to a poor start and played a game of catch up netball which resulted in the team losing to Trinity College 18-20. In their final match against Scotch College, the girls put up a strong fight to only go down by two goals, with the final scores, Tenison Woods College (41), Scotch College (43).

A fantastic achievement by this group of girls who were also hit with some injuries throughout the tournament.
