Charity Day for Timor-Leste

19.08.20

On Thursday 13 August, we held our annual Tenison Woods College Charity Day, raising funds the Timor-Leste communities that we have supported for many years; The Dominican Orphanage, Francisco Xavier School in Hatolia and the Bakhita Centre.

Our College had an action-packed day of activities hosted by the Year 12 cohort. All other year levels were able to participate in a selection of games and activities for a gold-coin donation. Some of the activities included table-tennis, basketball, a small petting zoo, a dry-ice Science experiment and indoor soccer.

The main highlight and event of the day was the Hot Seat Quiz! Several of our brave College staff members and student leaders participated in answering questions about Timor-Leste and our College, with each wrong answer resulting in a bucket of water, flour or jelly being poured on each team member! This event was live-streamed to every classroom in the College. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for a short highlight reel of the day, coming soon!
A massive congratulations to all students and staff for raising a total of $2,337.75 for Timor-Leste!

A big thank you to the following businesses for sponsoring our event: Collins Court Butchers, Cheap as Chips, Bakers Delight, Bunnings, Mount Gambier Foodland IGA, The Distributors, and PFD.
