Year 8/9 and Open Knockout Netball Success

On Monday 10 August our Year 8/9 and Open girls netball teams competed at Olympic Park netball courts in the State-wide Schools Netball Competition. Both teams were successful on the day winning all matches and will now compete in the State Championships in Adelaide on Tuesday 15 September.


Year 8/9 Girls

The Year 8/9 Girls were coached by Kaitlin Egan and played well as a team all day in perfect weather conditions. The team showed great versatility throughout the minor rounds with their toughest game against Millicent High School in round 3. The girls worked hard to win by 6 goals in a tightly contested match. The Grand Final against Naracoorte was established in the second quarter where the team kept the opposition scoreless and shot 12 goals to gain a lead of 18 at half time. They went on to win by 21 goals in another great team effort.

Open Girls

The Open girls were coached by Donna Denton and captained by Tyne Bosco. They won their minor round games convincingly before playing a tough Grand Final against Mount Gambier High School. The girls had to work hard after being down by 4 early in the match. They were able to gain some vital touches in defence and shot accurately in the second quarter to be up by 4 at half time. The third quarter was the match winning quarter where they used their speed to set up a 12 goal lead and went on to win by 17 goals. It was a great team effort by the girls.
