Puzzled Pieces

27.05.20

During Term 1,  Year 9 Visual Art Students in my class were given a
collaborative task that focused on composition, shading and blending. A black and white photograph of someone quite special to Tenison Woods College – Fr Julian Tenison Woods- was cut into small pieces and each piece was given to a student. The subject of the artwork was kept a secret from the students. The pieces were then completed individually.

If you think that this person is looking rather unusual, then it could be due to the nature of the task. Once finished, the drawn squares were collected and combined together, as a sort of puzzle, to reveal the collaborative artwork. Overall, the Year 9’s did a fantastic job and the distorted composition is a great representation of how our students perceived their reference square.

We hope you enjoy the final artwork!
