Shrove Tuesday

27.02.20

Yesterday, in preparation for the season of Lent which began today (Ash Wednesday), we celebrated Shrove Tuesday – or Pancake Day as it is commonly known.

Almost 1000 pancakes were cooked and served with money raised being donated to Project Compassion. Traditionally, people used Shrove Tuesday to use up all of the luxury food items in their house in readiness to fast and to live simply during Lent.

Special thanks goes to Mrs McCourt and her hospitality class for preparing the mix and Mr Edwards and Mrs Egan and their classes for cooking the pancakes.
