End of Year Thanksgiving Mass Celebrated

05.12.19

With the school year nearing an end, last Thursday the College held its End of Year Thanksgiving Mass, led by Father Dean.

A beautiful mural was also revealed to the College Community. Within the design is a rainbow made up of small colourful discs. On each disc is the name of every student and staff member of the College! Well done to the Catholic Identity and Mission team for their work.

At the Mass, the Mary MacKillop Awards for Excellence were presented. This award is presented to a senior male and senior female student. This year’s recipients were Jacob Lang and Laura Cesario.

In Father Dean’s Homily, he highlighted the importance of letting your light shine by reciting a paragraph from 1992 book, “A Return to Love”;

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”

Tenison Woods College respectfully acknowledges the Boandik people are the First Nations people of the Mount Gambier South Eastern region of South Australia and pay respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, past, present and emerging.
