Year 8/9 & Year 10 Basketball State Finals

On Wednesday of week 5, the College’s Year 8/9 Boys and Girls basketball teams competed in the State Final, held at Wayville Basketball Stadium.

The boys team faced some very tough competition, finishing 6th in the state!

The girls finished first in their pool, winning 4 out of their 5 games and drawing to Cabra Dominican College in their 5th game. This saw them through to the grand final, where they once again met with Cabra. Both teams played very competitive basketball, however Tenison Woods College won the contest, 45-27 - claiming the State Championship for the 8th year in a row!

Following on from the 8/9’s success, our Year 10 Boys and Girls basketball teams competed in the State Final tournament the following day.

The boys team played quality basketball throughout the day, facing some of the toughest competition in the state. After playing in very close games, the Year 10 boys finished fifth in the state!

Our Year 10 Girls competed well throughout the day, winning 4 out of their 5 games. This saw them book a spot in the championship game against Westminster School. Both teams matched up well, with the score at full time being 36 all - sending the game into overtime! In OT, Tenison Woods College managed to pull away, finishing the game on 42-36, claiming the Year 10 Girls Knockout Basketball State Championship for the 6th year in a row!
