Mitchell Watt receives Flyers Award

14.11.19

At Monday’s Whole School Assembly, newly appointed School Captains Jess Snell and Ethan Herpich asked students in prayer, to remember those who died or suffered for Australia’s cause in all wars and armed conflicts. RSL President Bob Sandow, shared with the students the brief stories of four old scholars of Marist Brothers Agricultural College. Bob also reminded us of the amazing story of Anthony Casadio, Tenison Woods College 2018 Shining Light Recipent.

During the Assembly, the Tenison Woods College Flyers Award was announced, honouring the sacrifice and service of these group of men who served their country in a variety of military capacities. The Award seeks to acknowledge a student in the Senior School who has demonstrated their ability to go beyond what is generally expected of them, puts others before themselves and has a strong sense of comradeship. Their service to the College community and beyond is an honour to themselves, their family and the College.

Year 11 student Mitchell Watt was awarded the Tenison Woods Flyers Award from South Australian RSL President David Grenvold, for being a positive, motivated and hard-working young man who gives anything a go. He is a loyal friend and one that you could always rely on to help if needed. Through his involvement with Ski for Life he knows the importance of being a good listener and friend. He has a passion for flying and as soon as it was possible, he obtained his pilot’s license. He is a very focused and driven student who has the goal of becoming a commercial pilot and is working hard to make this happen. He works hard in the school community such as school working bees and at home, as well as at his job and other voluntary tasks around the community.
