Every Learner has a Pathway

17.10.19

The College’s Early Learning Community Centre values the importance of sensorial learning and the wellbeing of self and others.

The ELCC created a sensory and wellbeing path for children to walk barefoot amongst the weeping trees, listen to the sounds of birds visiting the bird bath and feel different textures under their feet.

The children are able to explore all their senses including smelling the flowers and tasting the herbs growing in the wellbeing garden. The children explored their senses this term; tasting, touching, smelling, hearing and seeing different items and textures. The elements within the new path include water, tiles, mosaic squares, river rocks, sandstone, grass, sand, bark and bricks as they “embrace their learning journey” with the vision of Earth, Fire, Water and Air incorporated.

Native plants were also chosen by the children in respect to the Boandik people in the ELCC’s wellbeing/sensory path area.
