Year 5 students represent College in Mad Minute Competition

04.07.19

In Term 2, one of the Year 5 focuses was to prepare for the Mad Minute event. The Lions Mad Minute is a structured impromptu public speaking competition for students in Year 5 in State and Public schools, and its development has been led by the Lions Club of Mount Gambier. The main purpose of the competition is to expose students to the benefits of Public Speaking.

The Lions Mad Minute currently runs in the Limestone Coast and has two phases. The first is a school based competition at class level within individual schools. This occurs in Weeks 6 and 7 of Term 2. The second, an interschool competition called the Grand Challenge is held between logically grouped schools. This occurs in Week 9 of Term 2.

Each Year 5 class had a representative and this year we had Bridie Bell, Maggie
Collins and William Humphries. All three did a marvellous job in representing Tenison Woods College and spoke to a very high standard. We congratulate Bridie Bell for securing 2nd place in the Grand Challenge which was held at Mount Gambier High School on Tuesday.
