‘Everybody Shines’ at Changing Tunes Concert

04.07.19

The 2019 Changing Tunes concert was a fantastic event that celebrated the
learning of our Year 3, 4 and 5 students, who all put on wonderful musical
performances.

The audience was also entertained by many ensembles performing a variety of songs including the Junior Choir, Year 6/7 Band, Thunder Drum Corps and the Concert Band. Soloists included Ryan Creedy, James Williams, Jake Parker and Fergus Kentish.

The two Year 12 Music Leaders, Portia Holdman and Taylor Pearson were
the comperes for the evening and kept things running smoothly. We offer our thanks to the Friends of Music parent group helping backstage, assisted by staff who volunteered their time, it truly was a celebration of the Tenison Woods College community working together.

A special highlight was the finale of the evening. This wonderful song was led
by Gabe Strahan, performing a song he composed himself ‘Everybody Shines’.
Gabe sings and plays piano, with the support of Year 8 student Vincent van Eyk
on box drum, Year 10 Danielle Thomas on Bass and featured the Junior Choir
who did an excellent job.

After the performance, there was a surprise video to delight the audience. The College’s PR and Events Department in collaboration with the Music Department visualised turning Gabe’s song into a Whole School Music Video! Starting with our wonderful Junior School, and featuring Senior and Inclusive Education students, the video beautifully showcased the College’s 2019 motto, SHINE! If you were unable to make the performance, please visit our Facebook Page to view the video ‘Everybody Shines’ as well as a photo album from last nights performances. Please do not hesitate to share the links on social media.

Congratulations to all students, staff, parents and community members who supported our students to ‘SHINE+’.
