College Teacher accepted into prestigious ‘Dramatic arts’ initiative

20.06.19

Middle/Senior School teacher Eliza Suggate has been accepted into the 2019 Creative Ambassadors Initiative for early career teachers at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). NIDA was ranked in the top 10 Drama schools in the world in 2018. Successful applicants participate in a week of masterclasses at NIDA in Sydney during the July school holidays. This will be an exciting extension from the Semester 1 NIDA Outreach Program in Year 10 Drama.

Eliza is excited to apply what she will learn into her classes. “I am so thrilled to have been accepted into this program. To spend time with other early career teachers from around Australia at such a prestigious organisation will be very inspiring.”

She continues “I anticipate this program will inspire me, teach me more about
the dramatic arts and also grant me the insight to actively pursue and experiment
with creative pedagogies in all of my classrooms. It will provide me with the
opportunity to connect with like-minded educators from around Australia. I will
also be demonstrating to our students that it if opportunities come along, our
school’s geographical location should not stop us from pursuing them.

A career in the Arts is absolutely within their reach if they are willing to work for it.”
The Creative Ambassador’s Initiative is NIDA’s investment in the creative practice and artistry of early career teachers; and features professional artists and academic staff from various disciplines leading workshops across a week-long intensive. The group will be working with leading artists, educators and academics including John Bashford (Head of Acting, NIDA) and Lyn Lee (NIDA Corporate).

The College would like to congratulate Eliza on this fantastic opportunity.
