Year 11 students raise awareness for Environmental Issues

20.06.19

The Year 11 Religion students have been focusing on ecological conversion this
term. As part of their studies, they needed to plan a practical activity that raised
awareness of an environmental issue and consider ways in which they could assist
in this area. 11B decided to focus on deforestation and the effect that it has on the
orang-utans. Students worked collaboratively to plan their informative presentation. They created an engaging activity, sought feedback and communicated with class teachers as to when they could present to students in Years 2, 3 and 4.

The Year 11 students needed to consider the language they used as well as how they interacted with the younger students. It was clear that the Junior School students loved the Grocery Shopping game, where they found out what foods contained palm oil and the effects that this has on the forests and orang-utans.
