Music students represent College at Generations in Jazz

08.05.19

From Friday 3 May to Sunday 5 May, over 30 students and staff from Tenison Woods College participated in the Generations in Jazz Festival held at The Barn.

This year the festival attracted over 6,000 students from around Australia and New Zealand who participated in the biggest school music festival in the Southern Hemisphere. This annual Festival combines band competitions, choir competitions, workshops, concerts and always inspires our students.

With performances from international and national musicians, students love the atmosphere of being amongst so many music loving students. Our College students performed extremely well and we are very proud of their success and representation of the school.

With some very young and new members, Big Band came 3rd in Division 4+. An amazing result. Congratulations to all students and their Musical Director Jack Heaven.

Both our choirs performed very well under the direction of Beth Creedy and Jodi Swiggs and should be very proud of their efforts.

In Division 3.1 our Senior Vocal Ensemble placed 14th out of 25.

In Division 4 our Concert Choir placed 10th out of 22.

A special Congratulations to Ethan Hopgood – Winner of the Blanchard Award.

Congratulations to all staff and students involved with the weekend!
