Ethan Hopgood receives Blanchard award at Generations

08.05.19

Congratulations to Ethan Hopgood who was the male recipient of The Ross and Jenny Blanchard Development Award, The Blanchard Award is open to talented instrumental students in either their first or second year of high school.

This development award is designed to help young students at the beginning of their high school journey and for talented students who need some financial help to reach their full music potential.

Ethan says his interest in Jazz music came from hearing Big Band play at an assembly.

To be eligible for this Scholarship Ethan was required to play two Jazz pieces with improvisational solos. “Being chosen for the Scholarship and having my name called out at Generations was amazing” he recalls, “it was the first time anyone from Tenison has been called for this award.”

Julie and Cam Hopgood comment “we really appreciate all the time and effort the Tenison Woods College Music Teachers have put into supporting Ethan and all the Generations in Jazz participants, we are very excited to see where this scholarship can take him and grateful for the extra tuition that it will enable him to have.”

The College would like to wish Ethan all the best as he continues to shine with his Jazz abilities.
