The Year 9 Hockey Academy aims to enhance players' technical abilities, tactical understanding, and overall game performance.
This course focuses on developing young athletes' hockey skills through a structured program that emphasises both individual and team play.
Cost: $100 per semester and an Academy t-shirt is to be purchased if students don’t already have one.

As this is a specialised subject within the Tenison Woods College Sports Academy students are expected to be committed to their development as a student athlete and are asked to adhere to the following Selection Criteria and Student Expectations.
Selection Criteria
• Students must currently play/compete for a community sporting team or association.
• Students must have demonstrated high-level skill and performance in their chosen sport, supported by previous achievements, assessments, and Academy coach recommendations.
• Strong motivation, a positive attitude towards the Academy program and a commitment to personal and team goals are essential.
• A history of a high standard of behaviour, classroom attendance and interpersonal skills.
• By selecting this subject, participants are agreeing to adhere to the student expectations of the Tenison Woods College Sports Academy.
Student Expectations
• Show a proactive attitude towards personal development, including setting and pursuing goals, embracing feedback, and striving for continuous improvement.
• Actively contribute to team dynamics, support teammates, and engage positively in collaborative training and strategic discussions.
• Come prepared to lesson with their Academy uniform, footwear and equipment required for their chosen sport.
• Be dedicated to academic success by having a positive attitude towards school and study and meeting all set deadlines.
• Be active participants in Sports Day, Swimming Carnival and Cross Country.
• Be available to represent the school in Knockout sports, Interschool events and if selected the Cardijn Exchange.
• Demonstrate positive behaviours and act as a role model for their peers.
• Be dedicated to fostering a growth mindset and achieving their own personal excellence.
Practical and theoretical assessments are based on Australian Curriculum Achievement Standards.
