Subject Description

Within the study of Drama, students will work through a collection of workshops explore both onstage and offstage work. Students will be exploring the mechanics of theatre works through oral presentation skills, group production, reviewing and analysis live and filmed theatre performances.

Students will develop skills in concentration, cooperation, teamwork, organization, oral communication, tolerance, social awareness, and audience engagement.

Content

Theory Analysis:

  • Students will delve into ensemble dynamics and gain a comprehensive understanding of the process that takes a production from the script to the stage. This includes adopting roles as cast or crew members for live performances, evaluating these performances, and honing their drama skills for oral presentations. Additionally, they will practice job interview techniques and explore the operations relevant to their future career paths in theatre.

Spectator Skills:

  • Students will watch contemporary performances by professional theatre companies, developing their abilities to interpret, describe, and evaluate these productions.

Performance Skills:

  • Students will cultivate a range of performance abilities, including ensemble collaboration, improvisation, script interpretation, vocal projection, timing and pacing, effective eye contact, stage presence, and the analysis and interpretation of body language. They will also focus on problem-solving, communication skills, and teamwork practice.
