Subject Description

The Year 7 Cricket Academy immerses students in the fundamentals of cricket. This course focuses on developing essential cricket skills, understanding game strategies, and improving overall fitness. The program also emphasises teamwork, leadership, and the spirit of cricket.

Sports Academy participants are expected to be committed to a high standard of performance and dedicated to developing their skills and knowledge within their chosen sport.

Content

Students will:

  • Develop fundamental cricket skills including batting, bowling, fielding, and wicket-keeping.
  • Understand and apply basic cricket strategies and tactics.
  • Enhance physical fitness with a focus on components relevant to cricket performance.
  • Foster teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Cultivate a respect for the spirit of cricket, promoting sportsmanship and fair play.

  • Food and nutrition
  • Health benefits of physical activity
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Relationships and online safety
  • Alcohol and drugs
  • Fundamental movement skills
  • Games and sports
  • Lifelong physical activities

All Year 7 ‘s regardless of their HPE stream will complete an Athletics unit at the commencement of Term 1.

Assessment

Practical and theoretical assessments are based on Australian Curriculum Achievement Standards.
