Subject Description

Year 7 Football(soccer) academy aims to introduce students to the fundamental skills and strategies of soccer. Students will develop basic movement concepts, understand the importance of practice and feedback, and begin to appreciate the roles and teamwork essential in soccer.

Sports Academy participants are expected to be committed to a high standard of performance and dedicated to developing their skills and knowledge within their chosen sport.

Content

Football(Soccer) Academy emphasises the development of fundamental motor skills through engaging activities and minor games.

  • Sportsmanship and fair play
  • Strength and conditioning
  • Personal development

The following focus areas will be addressed in Year 7:

  • Food and nutrition
  • Health benefits of physical activity

  • Alcohol and drugs
  • Fundamental movement skills
  • Games and sports
  • Lifelong physical activities

All Year 7 ‘s regardless of their HPE stream will complete an Athletics unit at the commencement of Term 1.

Assessment

Practical and theoretical assessments are based on Australian Curriculum Achievement Standards.
