Stage 1 Italian Continuers

The Year 12 Italian Continuers level languages are designed for students who have studied the language for 400 to 500 hours by the time they have completed Stage 2, or who have an equivalent level of knowledge.
Students interact with others to share information, ideas, opinions and experiences. They create texts in Italian to express information, feelings, ideas and opinions. They analyse texts to interpret meaning, and examine relationships between language, culture and identity, and reflect on the ways in which culture influences communication.
Students will analyse and evaluate information and ideas to draw conclusions and justify opinions, ideas and perspectives.
Students will also apply knowledge of the Italian language elements, structures and textual conventions to convey meaning appropriate to context, purpose, audience and cultural conventions. Students will display a high level of cross-cultural competence.

Assessment Type 1: Folio – weighting 50%
Assessment Type 2: In-depth Study – weighting 20%
External Assessment: Examination – weighting 30%
The oral examination (10 to 15 minutes)
