Subject Description

Australia's Role within the Asia-Pacific Region

This program focuses on the introduction and development of the following key concepts of Geography:

  • Study of World Population and an analysis of the current refugee crisis
  • Risk assessment of fire hazard in a local conservation park
  • Individual investigation into the climate change debate
  • A case study exploring Australia’s role within the dynamic Asia-Pacific Region

Cost: Potential costs to cover field trip transport fees (approx. $10.00-$15.00)

Content

Through the study of Geography, students will develop an understanding of the interrelationships between people, places and environments at a local, national and global level.

Assessment

There will be four summative assessment items across the semester. These comprise:

  • A presentation
  • A fieldwork report that includes an interactive map using the Google Maps platform
  • A round table discussion
  • National Geographic magazine article
