Subject Description

Students focus on the dynamic nature of the food and hospitality industry. They develop an understanding of contemporary approaches and issues related to food and hospitality. Students work independently and collaboratively. They develop skills and safe work practices in the preparation, storage and handling of food, complying with current health and safety legislation. Students investigate and debate contemporary food and hospitality issues and current management practices.

Students cannot select VET Hospitality and Home Ec in the same year.

Content

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Plan a catering enterprise as a group
  • Understand how to write action pllans, workflow plans and evaluations correctly
  • Apply knowledge and understanding to the topic of food intolerances
  • Work collaboratively as a group to follow hygiene and safety in the kitchen
