Subject Description

Stage 1 Media Studies introduces students to the fascinating world of media, equipping them with the essential knowledge and skills needed to critically analyse, create, and respond to various forms of media.

The course explores key concepts, theories, and approaches related to media production, media text and media audience. This course is divided into modules, each focusing on specific aspects of media theory and practice. The modules include; media analysis, media production and media audience.

Content
  • Investigate and analyse the work of other film makers. Learning to recognise and respond to the various techniques
  • Analysis the use and manipulate of media.
  • Practice in a series of hands-on, skill-developing activities.
  • Develop the knowledge of short film production, either in a small group or independently.
Assessment

Assessment at Stage 1 is school based. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:
