The Religious Education classroom is space of encounter, dialogue and wonder, where each student comes to understand that they are loved by God, encouraged to flourish in their learning and formation and are supported in realising their potential for agency and leadership.
Students will adopt one or more ‘big idea' to frame inquiry questions to explore issues and concepts and to reflect on personal and shared meaning within the Catholic faith and other spiritualities and religions.
Through the subject content, students develop and demonstrate their understanding of the influence of spiritual and religious perspectives on a local, national, or global community, by engaging with one or more images, artefacts, texts, documentaries, feature films, or other stimuli. They collaborate with others to develop, apply and reflect on their understanding of religious or spiritual principles that underpin social justice actions within the school or wider community. Students investigate contemporary issues linked to one of the big ideas.
Student learning in Religious Education interacts appropriately and regularly with the complementary aspects of the religious life of the school, including personal and communal prayer, liturgy, social outreach and youth ministry.
