Subject Description

This course consists of two key topics across Semester 2. The first topic, ‘Sustainable Tourism’, focuses on the impact tourism has on many aspects of people’s lives and on the environment. You will consider how tourism responds to challenges and opportunities. Furthermore, you will recognise that sustainable management of tourism is becoming a central feature of the 21st Century. The second, ‘Global Geographies of Human Wellbeing’, enables you to investigate global, national and local differences in human wellbeing within Australia and between places in the Asia-Pacific region.

Cost: Potential costs to cover field trip transport fees (approx. $10.00-$15.00)

Assessment

There will be four summative assessment items across the semester that will use the Achievement Standards as specified by the Australian Curriculum.

These will involve a range of activities including but not limited to

  • An investigation
  • A fieldwork report 
  • An issues analysis
