Subject Description

Being an Italian Author A

Students use a range of everyday language in spoken and written Italian to exchange information about their personal, social and global worlds. They communicate thoughts and opinions and offer reasons for points of view and opinions. They give presentations and formulate and respond to a range of questions and create written texts and give detailed descriptions.

Students produce bilingual texts and communicate their thoughts and consider social and cultural practices of Italians in Italy and in Australia. They are aware of the relationship between Italian and English and recognise that certain concepts cannot be translated from Italian to English.

It is highly recommended, that you successfully complete Semester A Italian if intend on enrolling into Semester B Italian.

Content
  • Students will demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to use and understand simple and commonly used expressions in Italian
  • Students will participate in tasks, such as interacting orally and in writing to exchange ideas, opinions, experiences, thoughts and feelings
  • They will participate in shared activities through planning, negotiating, deciding, arranging and acting
Assessment

Assessment will include:

  • oral tasks in Italian
  • written task
  • and comprehension texts
  • text analysis
  • research assignment
  • listening and responding tasks
